The Camera for Thinkers
GILDE 66-17 MST 3D for
photographs evolving in the mind
Taking photographs, drawing and
painting with light, showing your view of the world and reflecting these
mental processes in photographs, the creative portrait of a motif as a means
of showing off your own personality. If such high expectations are the
philosophy of the thoughts you wish to envisage, then you need a tool which
opens up every available option and releases you from all mechanical
limitations, challenging you to consciously apply all the facets of your
skill.
The GILDE 66-17 MST Super 3D
is just that tool. Its range of projection is second to none in the world,
from a square 6x6 up to the super-panorama format 6x23; it has tilt and
shift functions, an enormous range of focal lengths, magazine change and
unique accessories such as stereo-photography and motor-drive – this is a
camera with such a wealth of integrated instruments that thinking becomes a
visible activity.
Three years of development
culminated in the presentation of the first prototype of a GILDE camera at
the Photokina Fair in 1988; all the features of the later models were
already there: shift, tilt and free format selection ranging from 6x6 to
6x17. Photokina 1990 and 1992 saw the presentation of further developments
and in 1994 Dr. Gilde SKT GmbH presented the 66-17 MST, a model which caused
a great deal of excitement. For the first time there was a panorama-camera
available with shift and tilt functions as well as a magazine which made the
use of a diffusing screen possible in the middle of a film. High-level
stereo-photography is also possible with the GILDE camera.
The interchange of know-how with
numerous photographers in the past years has led to continual improvements
and new developments; as a consequence, there is hardly a wish that has yet
to be fulfilled. But I will naturally put every effort into making
improvements in detail and developing the instrument ever further.
On the following pages you will find
a great camera-system produced wholly in Germany and largely by hand. I
would be grateful for new ideas and constructive criticism.
